This Thanksgiving I’m thankful for all the contractors who’ve poured themselves into Assemble Boise over the past year.
I take great pride in the fact that every single one was a local owner/operator. That’s one of the things that makes Boise special. This city runs on small businesses where the entrepreneur is also the one on the ladder, in the trench, or under the floorboards. They don’t just manage the work. They do the work.
Building a boutique hotel in Boise’s North End — the only one in the historic district — takes more than a design vision. It takes tradespeople who care about craftsmanship, neighborhood character, and building something that will actually serve travelers, teams, and the community for years to come. Watching them work has made me appreciate not just their commitment to their craft but the entire construction ecosystem behind a purpose-built hospitality project.
It’s not easy. This is long, gritty, detail-heavy work. And these crews have shown up day after day to help shape a hotel designed for retreats, offsites, and curious travelers — a place that’s neither a big-box hotel nor a vacation rental, but something uniquely Boise.
They’ve helped me take a dream and turn it into a real space where people will gather, think, rest, and belong. I’m incredibly grateful.
